Introduction to Year 2
Welcome to Year 2!
Our classes are named after inspirational inventors: Bell (telephone), Baird (television) and Berners-Lee (world-wide web). Here we nurture enquiring minds and encourage children to explore the world around them.
We enjoy starting our school year, focusing on wellbeing and healthy habits, where we make a variety of healthy dishes and explore stories around big feelings. Also in Year 2, we are really lucky to offer the children’s first residential experience. Children get the chance to spend an exciting night away with their friends, at a nearby woodland adventure centre. This promotes their independence and prepares them for future residential trips. Our exciting curriculum concludes with a seaside adventure to Lytham St Annes!
Year 2 Topics:
· Healthy Homes and Habitats
· Towers, Tunnels and Turrets
· Street Detectives – Silsden
· Street Detectives – London
· Rumble in the Jungle
· Beachcombers
Within these topics, we enjoy bringing our lessons to life through outdoor learning. Children enjoy medieval field battles and using traditional Tudor building methods to create wattle and daub walls. They love to re-enact the Great Fire of London, that all began on Pudding Lane!
